Welcome in bright days with a good laugh and plenty of silly fun with Otis, the mixed breed stray found on the roadside and now ready to bring his adorable smile and zest for life to a new forever home and family. There is some mystery about his parentage, but he is an adorable guy with a scruffy black coat just made for brushing. He weighs 36 pounds and is estimated to be a medium sized dog (31-60 pounds) if he still has some growing left in him. There is no end to adventure and frolic with Otis the comedian as he zooms around the yard or romps in the snow before coming in for some cleanup and cuddles. Otis loves every dog and child he has the pleasure of meeting. It is not known currently whether Otis enjoys meeting cats.Otis is working at his house training and leash walking. Otis has plenty of energy and high spirits, so a firm, fun and positive approach to training will help him master his manners. It is important to remember that rescue dogs will have accidents as they transition to a new home. If crate training is planned, Otis deserves a crate in which he can stand up, turn around and lie down comfortably for a nap. Crates must be warm, welcoming places and never used for punishment. The winter will pass quickly with Otis by your side for romping in the snow, goofing off with new friends and then settling in for a nap by the fire.* Please keep in mind when considering adoption, dogs thrive on structure and routine. They adjust significantly better when their owners are committed to providing consistency and stability. The adoption fee for Otis is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. To get the ball rolling, head over to our Adoption Application and submit your application today. A Dog Star representative will contact you within 24 hours. To speed up the process, contact your vet and give them permission to speak with us.If you do not get a response within 24 hours, check your spam folder.
