Meet Ouiser <312 years old • 12.5 lbs • Chinese Crested / Yorkie mix (best guess)If you’re a fan of Steel Magnolias, you already know: the original Ouiser was tough, hilarious, and had a heart buried under that crusty exterior — and this little lady is no different.Ouiser (the dog) is a 12-year-old blind beauty with a sharp mind, strong opinions, and a soft spot for treats and quiet companionship. Like her namesake, her little prickly attitude might surprise you at first, but she’ll be your fiercely loyal sidekick — just don’t sneak up on her! Because of her blindness, she can be easily startled and may snap if surprised, especially by other dogs or grabby hands. She needs to be the only queen pup in a calm, adults-only home where she can feel safe and respected. She’s not into drama (unless it involves treat time), prefers peace and quiet over parties, and demands the dignity of being allowed to do things on her terms. Ouiser is a lapdog and she’ll also happily settle next to you on the couch — just make sure she doesn’t roll off during a nap! Overall she loves to be with her people. She shows her affection in her own way but you always know she appreciates you. Head scratches and a gentle pat across her back and she melts into your arms. Her ideal home?- No kids- No other pets (or only pets that will give her her space 100% of the time)- Someone who understands that just because she’s small and cute doesn’t mean she wants to be fussed over- A patient, loving human who will help her navigate the world with kindness and structureOuiser’s grooming needs are manageable (regular haircuts and sun protection are a must), her energy level is low, and she’s happiest in a quiet apartment or home where she can lounge in peace and occasionally remind you that she is not in the mood — in true Ouiser Boudreaux fashion. So if you’ve ever said, “I’m not crazy, I’ve just been in a very bad mood for 40 years,” and meant it — you might just be her people.Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $100.
