To adopt this cat from Black Cat Rescue, please fill out a profile https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston All about Peanut from her foster home! Peanut is an affectionate young cat and loves to be held and snuggled!  She is estimated to be between 1-2 years old.  PLEASE NOTE – Peanut must go to a home that already has another friendly cat.  She's amazing with her humans, but she also settles better with a feline companion in the home.   How would you describe the cat's general personality?    Peanut  is a very sweet, good natured cat.  She is curious, playful, and sooo friendly!  She loves her humans and gets along great with other cats too.  When she was nursing her kittens she also encountered lots of children and did great with them too! Does the cat enjoy being pet?   Yes! If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet?  Her favorite spot is the base of her tail, but she loves being pet behind the ears as well. Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched?   Nowhere in particular.  Unlike most cats she tolerates having her belly pet, although we try not to push it. Does the cat come on your lap?  Not commonly. Does the cat like to be held?  Yes,  Peanut  is perfectly happy to be picked up and held. Does the cat sleep in your bed?  She usually sleeps at either the foot of our bed or on the windowsill directly over the head of our bed. Does the cat seek your attention? Yes!  She will often walk over to us and rub against our legs to transfer her scent. Does the cat like to play?   Peanut  is very playful! What are the cat's favorite games and toys?  Her favorite toys are wand toys with a string and a toy attached.  She actually loves playing with any string, even a loose piece of twine. How vocal is the cat?  She almost never meows, but she will purr deeply when pet behind the ears. What kinds of sounds does the cat make?  Nothing outside of purring.  She may be more vocal with mewing when adjusting to new environments but should settle down once she is acclimated. Does the cat scratch a scratcher?   Occasionally she does.  She also would scratch against the secondary floor we added to our home gym, which is basically hard foam.  She has never scratched our furniture or caused any damage other than scratch marks to the hard foam floor in the one room. If no, please explain. Does the cat always use the litter box?  Yes, she has never had an accident. Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances?   Peanut  has never swatted at us or our family cats. Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you?   Peanut  has never scratched us. Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you?   Peanut  has never nipped at us or our family cats. Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)?   Peanut  has never bitten us. To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful?   Peanut  does great with new people!  When she was nursing her kittens, our house was a revolving door of people who wanted to meet them, including children.  She was never territorial or hostile towards any of these people. Does that cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren’t covered by the previous questions?   She has the biggest, cutest yawns of any cat.  Sometimes when she stretches, she extends her paws and separates her “fingers” in a way that makes her paws look huge.  She has the softest fur of any cat we have encountered.  Her favorite activity is to sit on the windowsill of an open window and observe the outside (she will not try to claw through the screen).  She can also be regularly found sitting on top of the fridge. In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt?   Peanut  is such a friendly, easygoing cat.  She is great with other cats and with children, which is not always a guarantee with every cat.  She is both food driven and play driven, so she will be easy to connect with.  She’s been through a lot for a cat so young with raising her five kittens and not having a permanent home, but you would never guess it from how she acts.  She is a cat who genuinely enjoys affection from her humans and will regularly rub up against your legs.  She is young, healthy, energetic, and will make a perfect cat for any home as long as there is another cat for her to bond with.  If we didn’t already have two cats we 100% would have applied to adopt her ourselves!   What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them?   Peanut  is honestly the best behaved, easiest cat we have ever owned or fostered.  Other than occasionally jumping on our counter when we prepare food, which we are training her not to do, she has not had any issues or challenges at all. .
