Meet Pebbles! Pebbles was surrendered to the rescue by her owner because she needed medical care and they believed she wasn't worth the investment. She was infested with fleas and had a secondary skin infection from scratching herself, along with a double ear infection. We believe she was being kept outside, as other dogs on the property were penned outside with no relief from the elements. Pebbles is so lucky she was surrendered and her medical issues were easily remedied with a trip to the vet, a flea/tick preventative, and antibiotics to address the infection. She is back on track now and ready to start her new life! Pebbles has lived with dogs, cats, and young kids and gets along well with everyone. She’s living with two small dogs now and does fine as part of a pack. While she loves toys, she does not show a lot of interest in playing with other dogs. She cohabitates well but is much more focused on her humans. Pebbles would do well as an only dog, or with other chill dogs or cats in her home. She’s very adaptable. We checked in with her foster mom, Renee, for an update: “Pebbles integrated very well with my dogs Ryder and Kristy. She is not an aggressive Chi, she is more timid. She gets along well with the other dogs, but she would make a great only pet for someone who wants a Velcro dog that will sit on your lap and follow you. She doesn’t play with the other dogs but will follow them around the yard and do her business. Pebbles is housetrained and crate-trained. She will go to the door when she has to go out so just keep an eye on her. Usually, when she moves from the couch it’s time to go out. I only crated her the first few days when I needed to run errands, and she did well in the crate with a treat. She is not destructive at all when left out of the crate. She will cry when I leave the house or if I’m out of sight for a period of time so she now sits in the bathroom while I shower. She is a Velcro dog and loves her person!! Pebbles has a mellow energy, but she likes to play fetch with her toys a few times a day. In the early morning, she will walk the yard and again when the sun starts going down. She may stroll for 15-30 minutes just sniffing and enjoying herself. She LOVES her walks and gets very excited when she sees her leash. She is an excellent leash walker and enjoys going out for new adventures. She pays no interest to other dogs when walking, which is great. She just strolls and wants to take everything in. I’ve had her a month now and she’s been good at meeting new people. She will bark when there is a knock at the door but stops when company comes in. It takes her a few minutes to let new people get close but she’s not barky, she just keeps her distance. She gets along great with my grandchildren who visit and enjoys playing fetch with her toys with them. You just have to let her come to new people on her time." ******* Miss Pebbles will make someone an excellent companion pup.
