    Pepe Lepu is a gentle male German Wirehaired Pointer with soulful brown eyes that convey both his sweet nature and longing for love. Estimated to be between 1 and 2 years old and weighing around 38 pounds, he has recently begun to experience the joys of a more social environment. Although he can be shy and may initially hide when meeting new people, Pepe is quickly warming up to his new surroundings and is discovering the pleasures of human affection. He adores pets, scratches, and belly rubs, and looks forward to his daily walks with his foster family. Despite spending his previous life in a breeding kennel, he is a resilient boy with good manners, he is crate trained and making progress with leash walking. He is doing a great job using pee pads indoors. He prefers to potty outside, and he is already learning to use a doggy door. In addition, Pepe's beautiful coat is now coming back in after his life of neglect.   He shows promise in adjusting to a routine and is very calm when left alone, with no excessive barking or destructive behavior. His energy level is calm, but as he gets comfortable with his furrever family, his foster mommy thinks he will thrive in a home where he can run and play freely and feel secure in his routine and around humans who love him.  Pepe would thrive in a single-family home rather than an apartment or condo, and he would likely benefit from having another dog to help him learn the joys of being a pet. His ideal family would be patient and understanding, especially with children, as he has shown a gentle disposition towards kids who are respectful and kind. With the right environment and care, Pepe is sure to blossom into a loyal and loving companion, bringing joy and affection to his forever family. We think this gentle boy who has been through so much in his short life deserves the good life.
