Critter Details

Percy is what we like to call a gentle giant. He’s a big kitty with a calm, laid-back personality. At around 7 years old, Percy enjoys a good play session now and then, chasing a toy or hopping up onto a windowsill to watch the world go by—but his favorite pastime is simply chilling. Percy’s journey began on the streets of South Philadelphia, where he was found by a trapper, moving from colony to colony, reportedly in constant pursuit of the best food. And even now, food remains one of the great loves of Percy’s life. He eagerly awaits mealtimes and isn’t shy about letting you know when it's dinner time! That said, Percy's on a bit of a diet from loving his food a little too much- he's making great progress in coming down from a chunky 17lbs and most recently hit 15lbs on his weight loss journey! And food isn’t his only passion. The one thing Percy (almost) loves as much as eating is being brushed. He lights up at the sight of his brush and will even come running when he sees the lint roller, mistaking it for grooming time. Percy gets along well with other chill cats, although he tends to keep to himself for the most part. He may get overwhelmed in a super multi-cat home, so may do best as an 'only child' or with 1-2 very friendly, laid back kitty friends. When it comes to humans, though, Percy is affectionate and loyal. He loves lounging on the couch next to his people, follows them from room to room, and happily curls up on their bed at night. Percy was diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), though he currently has no active symptoms or is on any treatment besides a limited-ingredient diet. He does take Gabapentin, though, to help with anxiety associated with changes in routine, as well as to help minimize itchiness with seasonal changes. Despite his senior status, Percy shows no signs of slowing down and is a sweet, loving, and low-maintenance companion who is ready to find his forever home—one with someone who appreciates his calm presence, affectionate nature, and quirky charm.
