Critter Details

  Petey is a 10 year old neutered male shih tzu who is full of energy and a total love bug.  He's approximately 15 pounds.  Petey is a people dog, he loves to meet new people with a wagging tail and he's also a 110% lap dog. He will whine until he’s cuddled in your lap. He likes to sleep in bed with his people and sleeps through the entire night, he gets up when his people get up. The more attention he gets the happier he is. Petey is currently residing with two other senior dogs. Although he gets along with them he has to be fed away and gated from them as he guards his food from them and will growl. He can also be protective of his people and if in your lap he’ll growl at the other dogs but this is quickly remedied with distraction and redirection. Otherwise he gets along with them and is good when all 3 gets treats while sitting side by side.  Petey will let you know when he needs to go outside, he’s good in the yard but loves walks too and when he sees his harness he lets you know just how excited he is. He has never had any accidents in the house. He’s not excited about car rides and will whine the entire time and if not held or secured he’ll walk all over the car. For safety we have him secured with a doggy seatbelt while driving. Petey will get into garbage cans if given the chance, a secured garbage can is best. When left alone he will whine and cry for a short time but our doggy cams show us he settles down and sitting in the chair waiting for us to get home. Petey loves stuffies and will often take one outside to bury it for later. Petey will love a home where there are warm laps he can cuddle in, he loves tons of attention.  Petey is sweet with a side of silly and goofy! A true love bug.
