***CODE RED – Will be euthanized 2/15 unless adopter or foster is found*** Anyone in need of a dog to help you get items stored high up on the shelf? Anyone searching for a basketball buddy? Pumpkin can help! And she really needs our help ASAP. The Texas shelter where she has been staying has been told that by next weekend (2/15) they need to euthanize all long-term residents in order to make room for new arrivals. Pumpkin is one of the dogs that will be killed unless she finds an adopter or foster ASAP. Her sister, Nutmeg (also posted) is also on the kill list. These poor girls were found after being dumped at a city park when they were just 2-3 months old, and they have lived at the shelter since then. They are now just over a year old which is a long time to have had to live in a shelter. Both Pumpkin and her sister are people and dog friendly. They have not been cat tested. They are very active dogs as they have been cooped up and are desperate for attention. They can both jump high enough to give kisses. According to the shelter manager, ‘I have to stand inside a kennel when they are let out because they jump to play with my pony tail.” ? As of right now neither of them walk well on a leash yet, so they will need some patience and training. Pumpkin is estimated to be just over a year old and weighs about 25-30 pounds. Friends for Life is offering a reduced adoption fee in order to try to save Pumpkin’s life. She is currently in TX, but if adopted will be transported to NJ on our next transport March 1st.
