The application is the first step in the adoption process, so if you are interested in adopting please fill out the online adoption application  first by visiting our website at www.dachshundpaws.org    Rex, born 7/4/2024 is a Dachshund mix. Rex is a 7 month old tri colored Dachshund mix. Rex weighed 12 pounds at his vet visit. Rex came to the rescue with his brother from a family that could no longer keep them. Sadly they were very under socialized. They also had only been using potty pads, so we’re not house broken. The dogs had never been outside the home. When the family dropped them off at the foster home, the dogs would scream when we would touch them. We had our work cut out for us. Luckily, we have very well adjusted dogs and that’s helps.  After Rex settles in, he is a happy puppy. He loves to play. He loves even more to cuddle. Rex is hand shy, so we are working on letting him know that we won’t hurt him. Rex is working on crate training for housebreaking. He learning to use the doggie door in 5 seconds. He loves to sleep in the big bed. He needs another dog in the home. He does have separation anxiety, but that’s normal with a dog losing his home, and it goes away once they realize you will always come back for them. Rex is looking for someone who understands that he is going to need a little love and patience in the beginning, but it will pay off in puppy kisses!  Rex’s adoption fee: $350      We do not have a kennel or facility to visit, all dogs are kept in foster homes until their forever homes are found.Adoption Process: Once an approved application is on file, we will then set up a home visit. At that time we will bring the dog to the home in which you will all be sharing. We ask the entire family to be there that day.
