Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs – but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 3/26/2025 Reason for being in rescue: Breeder release Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Rocket is up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Rocket is a terrier mix. Only a DNA test will confirm what breed mixes this handsome boy is. He is not hypoallergenic and will shed. Weight: 15 lbs (est) Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Rocket will be neutered on 5/14/25 and ready for his forever home on 5/23/25. We are accepting applications to adopt now. Adoption Fee: $349 Fence needed? Rocket would benefit greatly from the safety of a physically fenced yard. He has zero experience with leashes and is very unsure of them.  What kind of home would be best for me? Rocket arrived in rescue via a breeding / hoarding situation. Like many dogs from similar backgrounds, Rocket was unsocialized and is generally fearful of people. While our caregivers are working with him daily, what Rocket truly needs is a patient, dedicated person who can help him continue to grow and trust. He is not a dog for a first-time dog owner; Rocket needs experience. He needs a calm, patient adopter that will meet him where he is and grow with him.  Rocket is best suited to life in a single-family home. The hustle and bustle of community living and shared walls may be too much for this boy who has so much to learn about life. Rocket is also still shy when meeting new people and has no familiarity with leashes. He has a gentle demeanor for learning, but you will teach him everything. Slow and steady wins the race with this boy! Rocket is still working on his social skills but generally does well with other small dogs. He hasn’t been tested with cats yet, but based on his temperament, we believe he’ll coexist peacefully—especially with a calm, respectful feline. What is my personality like? Rocket is a young dog with little life experiences. Surrendered by his breeder, all that Rocket has known of "life" is time with LOTS of dogs and not enough one-on-one human companionship. His previous living conditions were not what you or I expect and Rocket arrived in rescue with skin irritations. His body and heart are healing, the hair is growing back, and he's ready for a forever home.  Rocket is still cautious when meeting new people and doesn’t enjoy being on a leash yet—he will need gentle, consistent leash training in his new home. He’s also learning the basics like “sit,” “come,” “stay,” “down,” and other simple commands. His ideal adopter will be kind, loving, and understanding, helping him learn with patience and care. The time you invest in Rocket will not only help him blossom but will also create a deep bond between you. Rocket is still a work in progress, but he is eager, smart, and full of potential. There is truly nothing more rewarding than watching a dog experience all of their firsts with you and feeling the bond develop as they grow into the beloved companion they were always meant to be! How do I act when I first meet new people? Rocket is shy at first and takes a little time to warm up. But each day, his trust in people grows, and he’s learning to enjoy attention and affection more and more. Other tips and tidbits: Rocket was born on or about 3/26/2022. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note – we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you – poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.
