Give a big warm welcome to Ruger, a handsome Labrador mixed breed boy who was abandoned before a good person found him and brought him into shelter. He is 1 year 7 months old, sports a lovely brown coat and is eager to find a forever home and family.Ruger weighs 58 pounds, making him a medium sized dog (31-60 pounds). Ruger has plenty of energy and high spirits for fun and games with children and dogs. It is not known whether Ruger enjoys spending time with cats.Ruger is learning that being a good boy at home means learning his manners and he is hard at work absorbing house rules and leash walking. Rescue dogs may have accidents as they transition to a new home, so Ruger deserves to be taught with patience and treats. If crate training is planned, Ruger deserves a crate that is big enough for him to turn around, stand in and lie down. Crates need to be warm welcoming places and must never be used for punishment. Whoever abandoned Ruger lost the chance to love and be loved by one of the sweetest boys anyone could ask for, a companion for play, for snuggles and for all around good times and plenty of love.* When considering adoption, keep in mind that dogs thrive on structure and routine. They adjust much better when their owners are committed to providing consistency and stability. The adoption fee for Ruger is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. To get the ball rolling, head over to our Adoption Application and submit your application today. A Dog Star representative will contact you within 24 hours. To speed up the process, contact your vet and give them permission to speak with us.If you do not get a response within 24 hours, check your spam folder.
