Please take time to read about dear Sadie and hopefully lots of CARING and SHARING will result in a Forever in Foster home for her. She can finally have a family of her own! Meet little Sadie, a mill mom who came to us about 2 weeks ago. Her wee body exhausted, worn, and lacking nutrients, from having puppies every six months for the last 6 years. Suffering from alopecia (hair loss) most likely from a hormonal imbalance or stress and shut down, she arrived to one of our devoted foster homes. We got her into one of our vets right away and learned today that the masses on her mammary glands are malignant: "the two mammary tumors are both grade 2 malignant mammary carcinomas, both showed notable aggressive and invasive behaviour and with evidence of lymphovascular invasion and a more aggressive subtype" Poor Sadie finally gets a chance to get out of the mill and on to better days when this news hits . Our vet is recommending we put Sadie in a Forever in Foster home, which is why Sadie is being featured on FB today. Her current foster mom is not in a position to keep her but shares the following report: Sadie is a very sweet soul, shy (as most of the mill dogs are), good with my dogs, loves to sleep with me and curls up on the pillow, is not vocal or destructive when left alone. She is not yet housetrained, but is getting better especially learning from my dogs. I've only had her a couple of weeks, and have not tried to walk her but given my experience with puppy mill moms, it will take time and trust. I've seen no aggression in any way, and in fact, is a patient and kind dog who is most deserving of being embraced and loved" Our Forever in Foster program supports dogs like Sadie and has for over 20 years now. Please consider forever fostering Sadie by filling out our foster app at: https://www.speakingofdogs.com/volunteer/fostering/ the rescue covers all medical care, grooming and supplies. For those of you who supported our Step Up for the Pups walk, this is what it's all about! She is currently in East Toronto but we can move her to pretty much anywhere in the province
