After coming from a hoarding situation with very little individual handling, she is still shy around people — but she is making steady, heartwarming progress in foster care. Sadie thrives on routine and predictability. She eats wet food twice a day, reliably uses training pads, and sleeps through the night. She is very low energy and incredibly low maintenance. Her crate is her safe haven. Placed in a quiet corner with three sides covered and the door left open, it allows her to observe the household at her own pace. When she feels comfortable, she’ll venture out to explore — especially for bits of cheese or boiled chicken (her favorites!). She has recently started taking treats from your hand and allowing short, gentle pets, which is a big milestone for her. Sadie would truly flourish in a home with another calm, friendly dog. She gains confidence from her canine foster sibling and feels safest when she has a buddy nearby. She does not yet understand leash walking and finds the leash scary, so she will need a patient adopter willing to move slowly and build trust. Medically, Sadie has been spayed, had her mammary tumors removed, and received a dental cleaning. She has a cataract and glaucoma in one eye and likely has limited vision on that side. She is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Sadie is looking for a quiet, patient home where she can continue to blossom at her own pace. With time, kindness, and perhaps a confident dog friend, this sweet girl will be an incredibly rewarding companion. Her adoption fee is $300. Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption. After all these dogs have been through, they deserve a loving, committed home. CLICK HERE TO FILL OUT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION!
