Hi everyone, my name is Sammie. I am a two year old poodle mix who, despite a rough start to life, am a gentle and loving dog.. Living on the dangerous streets of a  city in China is very hard for dogs. Most of us don't survive. It gets even harder when it is winter time and you are pregnant with puppies, as was true for me. But in Nov, a kind woman saw me on her way to work. She noticed me standing by the side of the street, so lost, so scared, so tired and so heavily pregnant. She knew that I was just about to give birth. My rescuer also knew that with the harsh conditions, neither me nor my new born puppies would survive. She knew she had to try and save me.Of course, I wouldn’t go to her at first. People had never been kind to me so I didn't trust her immediately. But she was determined to rescue me and followed me around for about an hour. She eventually gained my trust and coaxed me into letting her put a leash around my neck and bring me to her place. On the third day after she rescued me, I gave birth to five beautiful puppies, two girls and three boys. I have thanked my lucky stars so many times. Because of my rescuer, we are all safe and my puppies are going to have a good life, instead of struggling to survive as second generation street dogs.Three of my puppies have already been adopted into loving homes in Toronto. But my other two puppies Finn, Wesley and I are longing to have our own families too. Would yours be mine?Extra vid: https://youtube.com/shorts/-J0zvKQhIz4Here is more info about me:Breed: poodle mixAge: 2 yearsGender: femaleWeight: 8 kg (18 pounds)Height: 32 cm (13”)Highlights: sweet, quiet, shy, gentle, easy-goingEnergy Level: moderateI get along with:Dogs: yesCats: yesKids: good with my rescuer’s young daughterFears: none observed. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in – at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live.
