OTHER PETS: Sammy would prefer to be the only pet.OWNER EXPERIENCE: Sammy will protest handling he does not enjoy and does not always give clear signals, someone experienced with positive reinforcement and subtle body language will be his best match. [Some Experience]KIDS: While Sammy has been comfortable with most handling, he did provide clear communication during some parts of vet examination. Because we cannot predict what sort of handling would bother Sammy from day to day, he would be best suited to live with adults or older teens who will patiently learn what his body language is saying. [15+ / Dog Savvy (Must Meet First)]ACTIVITY LEVEL: Sammy enjoys his time outside and splits it between resting in the sunlight and exploring all the things he can with his nose. He is still working on his loose-leash skills (positive reinforcement training!), and will benefit from regular exercise and plenty of mental enrichment to meet his needs. [Good Walking Buddy] VETERINARY CARE: Sammy’s owner will need to be committed to providing medication to help him relax prior to his vet visits. Sammy would benefit from a certified fear-free vet. [Above Average] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Sammy bond with his new owner as well as help him learn important life skills and possibly learn some new tricks. [Minimal] GROOMING: Regular brushing will help keep Sammy’s coat clean and matt-free between grooms; he should be groomed every 6 – 8 weeks. [Professional Grooming]
