Critter Details
(A bit about Samus from her current owners) Samus is an all black 5 year old German Shepherd (just had a birthday on the 29th). She is AKC registered, spayed and fully house trained. She knows all of the basic commands, loves playing and cuddles, gets a little over excited when it comes to food time, and constantly wants affection/pets. She is not destructive in the house, is crate trained and has no bite history. She is great with cats and other dogs after saying hello, very motherly. She does pull on the leash and is slightly hesitant with strangers but after saying hello she is fine. She is up to date on all of her shots as of August. I would say her only downfall is that she is anxious, and a bit timid. If she has to be put in her crate when someone comes over (ie someone doing repairs on the house) she will whine or bark until they leave if she can't be out saying hello. I don't know entirely how she is with other peoples small children (my children are 11 and 15 now, 6 and 10 when we got her), but we do keep her up when my youngest has friends over. She did try to nip at one of her friends elbows before. The friend was running past her/away and I think it spooked her. She did not make contact with the child, no skin broken or anything. When she was a puppy we had issues with her wanting to eat. The vet ran some tests to find that she had possible signs of kidney disease. This is managed through a special dog food (Hills Science Diet k/d). Since being on the dog food, she's had no issues. All of her levels were perfect at her last vet appointment. New Beginnings Shepherd Rescue is a 20 year volunteer based rescue, we work very hard to help as many adoptable GSDs as possible. Most of our dogs come from high kill shelters across the country, so sadly we do not have any background information on them…..but we work very hard to get to know each and every dog brought into our program in need of a new beginning in their lives. We do not take animals with aggression problems (some may not like other dogs, cats, or may require older kids as opposed to younger children, but we will let you know everything that we know) most of these beautiful dogs have been faithful and loving family pets for their entire lives, yet still have lost their homes and families through no fault of their own. If you are interested in opening your heart and home to one of these amazing dogs please fill out our adoption application at https://www.newbeginningsrescue.com/adoption-application and we will get back in touch after we get it processed. If you don't hear from us in 3 days, please send us a gentle reminder and one of us will get right on it. Please indicate the dog you are interested in meeting, where it says preference on the application! You may also email julie@newbeginningsrescue.com , we are always happy to answer any questions you may have. If you give them your heart, they will give you theirs.
