Please contact Aubrey Fuhrman (aubrey.fuhrman@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.small sweetie seeking fresh start and love! SANDRA NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:  Sandra       Best Guess for Breed:  Chihuahua mix   Best Guess for Age:  1 year as of March 2025      SEX:   Female   Approximate Weight:    19 lbs   Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven’t seen her with cats or kids but are happy to discuss integration techniques with potential adopters.   Currently Living at:   DC area foster home.   Special Adoption Considerations: Sandra can be uncertain at times – she came from Puerto Rico and this environment is very new to her! In certain home settings – where the environment might be louder or more intense – she would do better with another dog in the home to give her confidence.    Sandra is Looking For:    Her forever home! Sandra is a young girl, is just landing in the DC area from Puerto Rico, and hasn’t seen nearly enough of the world yet. She’s eager to explore it by the side of her new family. Sniffy walks, romps in parks, and all the adventures they can dream up – yes, please! She’d love to make new pup pals along the way. And to go to dog school so she can show how super smart she is!But what she wants most of all is to know where she belongs, that she’s safe and loved for all her days. In exchange she promises adoring gazes and all the loyalty in her adorable little body. What do you say? Does that sound like a good trade to you? What My Foster Says About Me:    She’s the sweetest, cuddliest thing. She’s starting to get used to walking on a leash and potty training. Whoever ends up with her will be so happy.    Medical: Sandra is a truly Lucky Dog! She tested positive for Heartworm disease but has already been treated! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites.  Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the adoption counseling process.   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.   Thank you for contacting Lucky Dog Animal Rescue and helping to save a life!  Please visit us online at    www.luckydoganimalrescue.org   .    BE A FOSTER!!!    Fosters make it possible for Lucky Dog Animal Rescue to save and care for homeless and abandoned dogs!  To learn about fostering, please contact    fostering@luckydoganimalrescue.org   !
