Introducing Scoobie Doobie. Scoobie was relinquished to AHS due to issues in his home. The owner said he was 14 years old and had some arthritis. They guessed that he was part dachshund/part yorkshire terrier. Think he definitely is terrier but what else who knows? He is not tall but is long. His hair is wiry. He will not need grooming but does not seem to shed much either. Maybe some brushing weekly to keep him looking good. The doctor at the vet clinic says he is in very good health overall and seems to have all his teeth. They also estimated his age more like 10 years old, maybe. He does not appear to need a dental in the near future at least. As for his "arthritis", that disappeared as soon as the groomer clipped his nails on the leg that he was favoring. Thank you "Groomer Girls". The poor guy had a nail (all were very long on that foot) that was overlapping the next toe and growing into the third toe. That had to be very painful. He was very good, even indifferent during that procedure and the limping disappeared as soon as he was off the table.Scoobie is quite vocal, when you arrive home after being gone, when he wants dinner and when he warns of offending dogs and people in the "hood"on walks. He did very well at the Paws For a Beer event but not so well at another very crowded event where he was on a leash. So until some training, leash reactive would be the word.He likes to sleep on the people bed at night but has been crate trained and probably would be okay there for night time if you preferred. He will go in there if he has something someone might like to take from him. He got along with the other foster in the home and also fine with meeting another small dog in the home.Scoobie weighs 22 lb. And he has some serious ears. He might win the "ears" contest at Dog Days of Summer next year. He seems to be a pretty nice boy with an unusual pedigree. If you'd like to meet Scooby please find out a Statement of Interest for him at https://alternativehumanesociety.com/statement-of-interest-dog/
