After spending a few nights with her first foster family in the SF Peninsula, sweet Stella has settled in her Sacramento foster home where she's living with three cats, a bird and her new mate Dakota to guide her in all things dog. Stella also has kids in her life which includes a teenager whom she adores and young kids across the street who are enjoying Stella's snuggles and kisses.Stella is very social with people, making friends without a hesitation and curious about all things happening in the neighborhood from the safety of her front lawn since she won't be full vaccinated until she finishes the required series of parvo vaccines around 16 weeks of age. Already a pro at riding in the car both crated and seat belted, Stella has earned herself some pup cups when her family picks up coffee in the drive through. Stella asks for play from one of the tolerant kitties and has been informed of her place in the family by the more forward of the cats which she's decided suits her just fine to give wide berth. Stella maybe cat workable with the right cat combination. Both crate training and potty training are progressing nicely, during daytime downtime Stella is in a wire crate and sleeps in a soft crate at nights right next to her foster mom's side of the bed. WIth just a couple potty breaks, Stella sleeps through the night. She has mastered pottying in the designated spot in the yard following Dakota's example. An energetic go getter who likes to be right where things are happening, Stella loves snuggles at the end of the day to wind down and get ready for bed. Toys help Stella pass the time when she needs to settle, tug games are heaven for her and she's satisfied with toys for her teeth in transition. Already we're seeing the love and care in a foster home, Stella's ears have popped up!We are so thankful to our foster team who love to help pups like Stella and Pixel. Our Peninsula foster family was amidst packing for a long trip out of the country this week, without hesitation they said we'll take both Stella and Pixel last Friday so they don't have to stay another day in the shelter while transport is arranged to their next foster homes. Stella arrived in Sacramento on Tuesday via car ride with a volunteer and Pixel had already moved to her current foster family last Saturday thanks to another volunteer who made the road trip to get Pixel settled. For sure it takes a village to help all the shepherds in need at our shelters. Although Stella and Pixel arrived to our care from the same shelter, they are not littermates. As a foster-based rescue, ShepHeroes is always in need of fosters. An overwhelming number of shepherds in our local shelters need our help for a fresh start. Would you be willing to share your home and part of your summer to help shepherds find new families? You provide the love, and we'll provide everything else! Saying "yes" today truly saves a life. Complete this https://www.shepheroes.org/foster-form, and we'll be in touch ASAP! We appreciate your consideration.
