To adopt please fill out an adoption application. Be sure to watch her video! Stella is a 1yo female hound/lab mix who was abandoned at a Memphis dog park during a summer heatwave. Friendly, well-socialized, happy temperament, never meets a stranger. Great with other dogs. Loves kids and is gentle with foster dad’s young children. Not cat tested. Very active outside, settles down quickly in the house, good house manners. Affectionate with her people and loves to cuddle. Crate trained and housebroken. Good on the leash, rides great in the car. Stella is very smart and her foster dad is using clicker training with her, she’s catching on quickly! Estimated DOB is 8-1-25. Weighs about 45 pounds. Healthy and fully vetted, current on shots. Awesome young hound mix will make an awesome companion (and jogging partner!) for an active family with kids. Here’s a note from her foster dad: Stella has made substantial progress in just the first couple of weeks. She is incredibly affectionate, smart, curious, athletic, high-energy, and very motivated by food and play. We’ve been working consistently on sit, wait, come, leave and drop, walking, settling, food patience, and helping her come back down after she gets excited. She is handling normal household activity much better than when I first brought her home, including the kids, car rides, meals, movement, and supervised time around my other dog, Lulu. She still needs structure, exercise, supervision, appropriate things to chew, and somebody willing to continue working with her. But she keeps showing me that she can learn and adapt when she has consistency. My sense from living with Stella is that she would thrive with an active, patient person or family who wants an interactive dog and has the time and energy to keep investing in her.
