Come meet Tory and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (Aug. 4th) from 12-3 pm at the Petsmart in Alexandria (3351 Richmond Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22305)!   Come meet Tory and other great adoptable dogs this Saturday (Aug. 3rd) at the Fairfax Petco! Name:  Tory      Best Guess for Breed:   Chihuahua and terrier mix Best Guess for Age:  7 years as of July 2024      Gender:   Female Approximate Weight:   17.4 lbs Gets Along With: Tory lives with other dogs in her foster home. We haven’t seen her with cats but she can be tested. We would be cautious placing Tory in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare small breed dogs with their level of energy or noise.  Children would need to be supervised closely to ensure their interactions with the dog are calm and gentle in nature.  We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant. She landed in the shelter through no fault of her own and is oh so eager to once again have her own humans for sniffy walks and all the adventures they can dream up. Sure, she’s not a young pup any longer but you know, small dogs can live quite a long time and Tory will have plenty of energy for quite some time to come! You may notice that Tory has a cherry eye in the photos. The good news is that will be fixed while by the time she arrives in the DC area. What she wants most of all, though, is to love and be loved, to know where she belongs, to know she’s under her own roof every time the sun goes down. In exchange she promises adoring gazes and little tail wags and to always make you smile. What do you say? Is Tory the companion you have been seeking? What My Foster Says About Me: Tory is doing great! She’s incredibly sweet and fun to have around! I haven’t seen her around kids yet but she adores everyone she meets. She’s smart and clearly well behaved. I was impressed by how much she sped along on our walk. I left her in her crate for a few hours and she seemed to handle it well. She loves playing with her toys and cuddling up on the sofa.
