Name:   Vera         Best Guess for Breed:   Yorkie mix  Best Guess for Age:   3 years as of April 2026         SEX:  Female   Approximate Weight:  14.5 lbs   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven’t seen her with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:  DC area foster home    Meet Vera – your future best friend and professional belly-rub enthusiast  Vera is an absolute sweetheart who wins people over in seconds—often by rolling right onto her back and politely requesting a belly rub. She’s incredibly friendly with humans and happiest when she’s close to her people, whether that’s following you from room to room or curling up beside you on the couch for some well-earned affection.  When it comes to other animals, Vera is a calm and respectful companion. She gets along well with other dogs (she’s more of a coexist-than-play kind of girl) and has done great living with a small dog. She’s also cat-friendly and will happily give feline friends their space when asked.  Vera is a dream walking buddy. She loves her walks, is confident on leash, and thrives on a consistent routine—she’s had no accidents when taken out every 4–6 hours. After a good walk, she’s ready for playtime or some quality relaxation.  Speaking of playtime—Vera has a hilarious and lovable personality. She adores squeaky toys (bonus points if she can carry two at once!) and enjoys games of fetch and tug. She can be a bit vocal when she plays, but it’s all part of her quirky charm.  At home, Vera is easygoing and well-mannered:  Crate trained: Sleeps quietly through the night and settles quickly Grooming pro: Happy to be brushed and comfortable with handling (even taking meds!) Polite habits: Prefers to take her time eating and doesn’t rush meals  She does have a few endearing quirks—she prefers using a ramp instead of jumping off furniture and can be a little unsure about being picked up, especially if it’s sudden. But with gentle handling and patience, she continues to build confidence every day.   Vera’s ideal home is one filled with love, routine, and plenty of companionship. She’s looking for someone who will take her on long walks, keep her stocked with squeaky toys, and—most importantly—never skimp on the belly rubs.   If you’re searching for a loyal, affectionate, and delightfully goofy companion, Vera is ready to roll (literally) right into your heart. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter.
