Welcome back Whittaker – our 2-year-old large, gorgeous male Doodle who entered rescue severely matted, underweight, and heartworm positive. Whittaker has overcome his state of neglect on intake – he now has meat on his bones, his coat has grown in beautifully, and he’s been treated for heartworm. Whittaker currently lives in a multi-dog home with older children and is thriving with structure and leadership. For Whittaker, his foster mom thinks his best future is with a seasoned dog owner who understands dog behavior and is committed to immediate training in order to establish a solid routine and relationship, and continue the success he is experiencing in his foster home, where he is an easy addition – affectionate, crate-trained, housebroken, rides well in the car and is reasonable on a leash. He is smart and sensitive and very much loved by his foster family. Whittaker needs someone to see past his outer appeal to his inner potential and remain committed to his long-term future as a family member. The ideal candidate will not readily capitulate and work to help Whittaker adjust to his new life, have a fenced backyard and no planned major life changes in the near future. The adoption amount is a suggested donation of $200 to $300 dollars based on the pet's age.   **Because our rescue is composed entirely of volunteers, local applications will take precedence . We will accept out of town applications, but any family is responsible for coming to Charlotte to complete a meet and greet. All out of town applicants will also have to be willing to drive to Charlotte to pick up the pet as soon as they are approved to adopt. **
