Please contact Destiny Sibert (DestinyS@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Sweet girl ISO fresh start and love! ZARA NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Zara     Best Guess for Breed: Poodle mix Best Guess for Age:  1.5 years as of September 2024       SEX: Female   Approximate Weight: 35 lbs   Gets Along With:   Other dogs! We haven’t seen her with kids or cats but she can be tested.   Currently Living at:   South Carolina shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get her freedom ride up here!   Special Adoption Considerations: Zara is REQUIRED to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog to help her gain more confidence. We would be cautious placing her in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare shy dogs with their level of energy or noise.  Children would need to be supervised closely to not leave doors open and should never walk the dog without an adult holding the leash.  We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant.   Zara is Looking For:   Her forever home! Zara is eagerly seeking loving humans who will give her the physical and mental enrichment she seeks – poodles are smart and active! And humans who are prepared to give her coat the daily care it needs along with regular grooming – mats hurt.   What she wants most of all, though, is to know she’s safe and loved and under her own roof every time the sun goes down. You get so much in return. Poodles are as much brains as beauty, and pretty awesome pups with very clear personalities of their own. What do you say? Is Zara the companion you have been seeking?  What the Shelter Staff Says About Me: Zara is nervous about her new environment and doesn’t like being left alone. She needs a patient adopter who already has a confident resident dog at home and who is willing to help her build her braves and teach her that the world isn’t such a scary place after all. What My Foster Says About Me:   We will update this once she has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with her foster.
