Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home. Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs – but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available. Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team Date into Rescue: 11/15/25 Reason for being in rescue: Breeder release/health of breeder Foster location: Zeus is in foster care near our facility, meet and greets for Zeus will be at Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Zeus is being treated for a yeast ear infection. He will need a veterinarian follow-up the week of December 10. Zeus has a non-reducible umbilical hernia. Weight: 33.6 lbs now – we believe 58 to 65 lbs when full grown Height: 18 in now est and we believe at least 24" at the shoulder when full grown Spayed/Neutered: No – Zeus is too young to be altered. He will be placed on a contract that requires surgery by one year of age or at the recommendation of his treating veterinarian. Neutering will be done at your expense and you must provide proof of the neuter. Adoption Fee: $699 Fence needed? Yes – Zeus best home will have a physical fence at least 4' or higher and at least 30' x 30' What kind of home would be best for me? Zeus best home is one that understands the intelligence of the standard poodle and that with intelligence comes a responsibility to teach, guide and mold him into the amazing dog he has the potential to be. Our best case home will include someone with the knowledge to shape behaviors, understand the exercise, mental stimulation and the grooming needs of a well-bred standard poodle and is able to provide all that he needs. Zeus requires a home with another active dog for socialization and play. A person scheduled away from home for no more than 4 hours per day and can provide multiple potty breaks throughout the day and night is a must. He is a baby and needs play breaks as well as frequent and consistent potty times to aid in potty training. Poodle puppies are always in need of a canine friend, they love to run and play with one another. Poodle puppies are active, agile little babies, they need homes that are ready to tire them out both mentally and physically, so a fenced in yard will be required. Poodle puppies are very well rounded dogs, they do not meet strangers and would do well with a nice big family or a single owner! What matters most to a poodle puppy is a happy and excited owner ready to take on loving and training their new puppy! When raised around cats, with proper boundaries, puppies do very well, it is important to note that poodles can have a high prey drive. If you expect your puppy to get alone with your feline buddy, it’s important to start socializing the puppy with the cat as soon as you can! This pup has not had contact with cats that we know of and will not have contact while with their current foster. What is my personality like? Zeus is a typical puppy who enjoys playing in the yard but will also follow you. He is progressing well with crate training, having no accidents and even voluntarily entering his crate for naps. Zeus has adapted to the feeding schedule and will patiently wait in his crate. Although he has successfully learned to use a doggie door, he occasionally forgets to go outside to relieve himself, and we are continuing to work on this aspect. He is only 4 months old. He'll gain this skill with time and patience. Zeus has been sleeping through the night, often alongside his sibling, so an adjustment period may be necessary when he is separated from her. We are addressing jumping behavior, but he has shown significant improvement with leash training. His groomer noted that Zeus performed well, although he requires further work on remaining calm. Zeus is still learning to play with toys and distinguish them from shoes. He interacts well with both large and small dogs. Overall, Zeus is an exceptional puppy who will thrive in a home with or without a canine companion. I recommend a household with older children, as Zeus is still a puppy. He does jump up unless trained otherwise, and positive reinforcement will be necessary. PUPPY POLICY: Thank you for carefully considering the addition of a puppy to your family. Puppies can be a joyous experience, but they can also be a tremendous amount of work. Since our goal is to place each of our dogs in forever homes, we are especially cautious with puppies. We like to stress 3 major things when considering a puppy vs. an adult dog: 1) many adult dogs are well bred, well trained dogs who find themselves in rescue through no fault of their own, 2) adult dogs are eager to share their love and bond with their new family, and 3) puppies will always require far more time, energy, and training than an adult dog. Our ideal puppy adopters are: -experienced dog owners with a solid record of excellent vet care of their previous pets -scheduled away from home for no more than 4 hours per day and have another canine companion already in the home -stay at home type of people (work at home, home schoolers, retired, etc) How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly and happy and playful – all puppy. Other tips and tidbits: We were told that Zeus was born on 07/04/2025. We do not have CKC paperwork confirming this. He is a puppy. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note – we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you – poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.
